About us

Independent Consulting Arborists

We provide the technical data and practical strategies needed to manage trees within the built environment. From initial assessment to long-term health, we bridge the gap between construction requirements and ecological preservation.

Our focus is preservation, not removal. Unlike contracting arborists, we do not cut down trees. We are independent specialists dedicated to tree health, statutory compliance, and the scientific protection of natural assets. We provide the expertise to ensure trees thrive during and after development.

1. Detailed Tree Surveys

We map every tree within or adjacent to the development impact zone, providing a precise inventory:

  • Botanical Data: Accurate common and scientific names.
  • Structural Metrics: Trunk diameter (DBH) and canopy spread.
  • Root Analysis: Accurate calculation of the Critical Root Zone (CRZ).
  • Status: Definitive "retain or remove" recommendations

2. Tree Protection & Monitoring

For trees being retained, we design and oversee a roadmap for their survival:

  • Physical Barriers: Specifications for protective fencing and signage.
  • Root Zone Protection: Guidelines to prevent soil compaction and damage.
  • Active Monitoring: Ongoing oversight to ensure construction compliance.
  • Damage Prevention: Methods to shield trees from machinery and site activity.

3. Tree Specification & Replanting

We provide site-specific recommendations for new or replacement trees:

Climate-Appropriate Species: Selection based on resilience and future-proofing.

Site-Specific Selection: Matching the right tree to the soil, space, and microclimate.

Scientific Precision: Utilising technical specifications for Climate Ready Trees.

4. Statutory Compliance

We navigate the legal requirements to keep your project compliant and avoid costly delays.

  • NFA: "Identifying protected species and facilitating the permit process for pruning or removals under the National Forests Act (NFA)."

SAHRA: "Assessing heritage trees and providing specialist documentation for Heritage Impact Assessments (HIAs) in line with SAHRA requirements."

5. Plant Health Care (PHC)

We look beyond the construction phase to ensure long-term vitality:

  • Integrated Pest Management (IPM): Prioritizing biological controls and predatory insects over chemical interventions.

  • Monitoring for Threats: Specialist management of the Polyphagous Shot Hole Borer (PSHB).

  • Soil & Nutrition: Enhancing health through organic amendments.
